All my life i loved to listen to the great bigbands who played all the fantastic tv tunes!
As a young boy i enjoyed the orchestra's of Henri Mancini, Cab Calloway, Woody Herman, Bill Conti, Dizzy Gillespie, Quincy Jones, Dave Grusin, Harry James, Michel Legrand, Buddy Rich, Stan Kenton, Nelson Riddle, Don Costa, Neil Hefti etc etc.
My nowaydays my alltime bigband favourite is the great Harry Connick....oeh what a SUPERTALENT!!!!!!
Closer to my Dutch home i was attracted to the orchestra's of Rogier van Otterloo and Tonny Eijk.
Coincidentially Tonny's daughter was in my schoolclass, and so i had the honour to meet him.
He took me to his own orchestra and the Skymasters bigband. Rogier van Otterloo told me a lot about composing and arranging, and he stimulated me and helped me a lot to become a composer and arranger too.
Tonny Eyk introduced me into the world of bigbands when i was 16 years old. He was a big hero for me. Now we play his legendary tv-tune 'studio sport' ourselves.
Now i lead my own bigband, playing my most favourite music; tv tunes!
The themes we play; Dallas, Dynasty, Kojak, Thunderbirds, The A-team, Magnum, Who's the Boss, Falcon Crest, Benny Hill show, Startrek, Hill street blues, Streets of San Francisco, Alf, Cagney and lacy, Love boat, Charlies angels, Shaft, Fame, Golden girls, Airwolf, Perfect strangers, Married with children, Baantjer, Twin peaks, Baretta, Happy days, The Nanny, Hawai 5-0, Allo-allo, Friends, Cheers, Derrick, The hulk and many more....
Specially for Holland we play the famous Dutch tunes like
De fabriek, Studio sport, de Berenboot, de Fabeltjeskrant, Goede tijden, Meneer de Uil, Pippi langkous, de film van ome Willem, pipo de clown, Tita tovenaar, Bassie en Adriaan, Q en Q, Flipper, Wickie, de stratemaker op zeeshow, barbapappa, Ja zuster nee zuster, etc. etc.
